Namey/Burnett Preventive Medicine Writing Award

Sponsored by the ACOFP Foundation, with winners selected by the ACOFP Health & Wellness Committee, the Namey/Burnett Preventive Medicine Writing Award honors the memory of Joseph J. Namey, DO, FACOFP, and John H. Burnett, DO, FACOFP—dedicated advocates for osteopathic medicine—and recognizes the best preventive medicine blog posts submitted by osteopathic family medicine students and residents.

Award Criteria

Award submissions should follow the blog post guidelines and all applicants must be current members of ACOFP.  Visit the ACOFP blog to read the 2022–23 submissions and submit your application by December 31.

Papers will be judged on:

• Originality

• Pertinence to osteopathic family physicians and patients

• Writing skill

Prizes

•  1st Place: $2,000

•  2nd Place: $1,000

•  3rd Place: $500

* Please note prizes are awarded on merit, and not all prizes may necessarily be awarded as part of the competition. These awards have been made possible through a grant from the ACOFP Foundation.
